Community Partners

When Donna Dostal, CEO of the Community Foundation for Western Iowa came to Red Oak in early 2024, and talked about the Foundation’s vision for Women’s Programs in their nine county area of Iowa, Bill Horner paid a return visit to the Foundation Staff in Council Bluffs to see if Falk’s Ice Cream could assist them in that effort.  The Falk Sisters’ hard work and self-reliance, coupled with their enjoyment of helping others during all of their years as farmers and business women in Essex, Iowa, were a perfect fit with the objectives of the Community Foundation of Western Iowa.  It was then that the partnership developed, starting with the RAGBRAI EVENT in Glenwood, Red Oak, and Atlantic during that summer.

The program informs the shoppers in Western Iowa about the Foundation’s efforts, while generating funds (when they purchase Falk’s Ice Cream) to assist Women’s Programs in those Western Iowa communities.
